Bespoke Pieces

Alongside our interior projects, Studio Shields designs and develops bespoke furniture, lighting and objects that can be commissioned directly through the studio. Created in close collaboration with carpenter and maker Patrick Shields, these pieces emerge from an ongoing dialogue between design and craft, a poetry of ideas meeting hands.

Our work often begins with reclaimed materials, particularly timber with history etched into its grain. These materials are reimagined through thoughtful design and careful making, giving them a renewed life within contemporary interiors. Custom brass sculptural handles have become a particular speciality of the studio, designed to bring tactility and character to joinery and furniture alike.

Each piece is developed with intention, designed to feel integral to the space it inhabits rather than simply placed within it. Objects are considered not only for their function, but for the story they carry and the atmosphere they help create.

Bespoke pieces can be commissioned directly through Studio Shields.

While many works are developed with Patrick Shields, Ruby also collaborates with a wider network of talented makers, artisans and designers, ensuring each piece is realised with the specialist knowledge and craftsmanship it deserves.

The View - Martina Gemmola

Tactile is a bespoke brass handle designed by Studio Shields, inspired by the gentle movement of leaves dancing across joinery. Designed to invite touch, each handle adds depth, shadow and character, a small sculptural detail that brings warmth and life to the surfaces it inhabits.”
